In Need of Help

I am in need of some guidance and was hoping someone out here in cyberspace can help!

About a month ago I bought a stainless steel frying pan (with aluminum core) in an effort to get away from cooking with the chemicals that are in the non-stick teflon.

Everything is either burning or sticking to the bottom no matter what I put in first. I have tried different cooking oils; putting in on while the pan is warm and while it is still cold.

I am just about ready to go back to the teflon pan because this is so frustrating.

Does anyone have any advice for me? Little tricks that work? Anything?????

Please leave a comment on the post. Thank you!

(If you have any questions yourself, I can post yours as well!)

  1. We use those pans to boil water and cook other meals in.

We had similar problems, so we switched to a cast iron pan that is like a flat griddle on one side and has ridges on the other.

It sits right on top of our electric burner. That is where we cook our eggs, grilled cheese, pancakes, just about anything else.

Here a place you can look at for examples.

  2. All I can say is good luck. I did the same thing. Recently bought a good high quality teflon which is not supposed to leach chemicals. The stainless pan I purchased I put into a garage sale. Could not get it to not stick.

  3. Those pans hold heat VERY well and it does not take much for them to heat up. That is why you are burning food and having problems. You have to cook on a lower heat setting than what you are use to. It takes a bit to get use to but once you do you will like it. I burned alot at first too...good luck!
