Tuesday Traders

I haven't done this for a couple weeks, but I feel it is time to offer up coupon trading again.

To partake in this trading, just leave a comment attached to this post and I will update it throughout the week. Be sure to check back often!

Do you have a bunch of extra coupons?
Is there a specific product you are looking for?

What do you need?
What do you want?

Let us all know so we can help each other!!!

By the way, if you are in the Portage area, I have 4 boxes of Rice Krispies cereal that I got for %0.25 each that I won't use in a timely fashion. Any takers? Trade?

A great post to share

Moneysavingmom has a great post today that everyone should read here.
I'm often asked how to save money when you only eat organic, or don't purchase any processed food. Here's your answer!

I agree that even if you only used coupons on non-food items, you would still free up quite a bit of your budget money to buy more organic food items. Anyway, be sure to check out the post.

My Walgreen's run

Too bad I made this run on Sunday before I knew about the extra savings coupon offered by Walgreen's this week. Oh well, I still made out like a bandit!
1. 2 Metamucil 2/$20, used $3 MQ on each, earned $6 RR, net $4 each
2. 2 Kids Ibuprofen BOGO $4.99, 2 Walgreen Q for $0.50 each
3. 2 Chapstik 3-packs on clearance $1.19
4. 1 Oral B toothbrush $3, used $0.75 and earned $3 RR, net -$0.75
5. 1 Gillette razor $8.99, used $4 MQ and earned $6 RR, net -$2.00
6. 1 Chapstick refresh $2.99, earned $3 RR, net -$0.01
7. 1 6-pack kids toothbrushes on clearance $1
8. 1 Herbal Essence conditioner $2.99, used $1 MQ, earned $2 RR, net FREE

My total out of pocket was $28.14, but my ad/coupon savings was $38.41! And don't forget that I left with $20 in Register Rewards! That is free money to use on my next visit!

Questions? Wondering how it works? Leave me a comment on this blog or email me at kendralacrosse@verizon.net.

Walgreen's coupon special

Walgreen's has put out a coupon here that is good for $5/$25. This is good for Tuesday and Wednesday only and can only be used AFTER coupons.

In order to make the best use of this coupon, look for items that are free after register rewards. That is very easy to do this week!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Menu Plan Monday

It's Monday already so here is the plan for the week. Keep in mind this is a PLAN, not an end all. I occasionally switch days around or even change it completely. The main purpose is so I have an idea of what I can make based on what is available in the house. Most days I don't want to think about meal planning and I use what is in the plan. But we keep it open for changes as needed based on how our week is going.

Monday: Chicken, rice and cucumbers

Tuesday: soup and salads, or hot dogs and salad

Wednesday: Pork roast and brocolli, bread

Thursday: Pizza

Friday: Taco salads

Saturday: Spaghetti and garlic bread

Sunday: Baked chicken, mashed potatoes and veggie

Have a great week everyone!

Kmart confusion

I am so sorry about all the confusion regarding whether of not Kmart is doubling coupons this week.

Thank you to Kristine for contacting me last night. She let me know that she found a site listing Wisconsin Kmart as participating in the event.

I called Kmart in Portage this morning and they informed me that they ARE doubling coupons this week until the end of the ad on Saturday.

Be sure to take advantage of this event and head out to Kmart! I know I will be there this week, maybe even more than once!

Bushnell Update

Remember the Bushnell weather forecaster deal I told you about?

Well, today in the mail I got my rebate check for $150.00. I bought my limit of 3 weather forecasters and got the full rebate for all 3! I paid $150 and got $150.00 back! They were originally priced at $99 at Walmart! What a great deal. Two of them are Christmas presents and I will still have one more left to give to someone later.

It pays to keep your eyes open and look for rebate deals all year round. I'm happy to say that several of my followers have received their rebate checks already as well.

RUN to this Piggly Wiggly deal!

I must be honest and say that I saw this in the ad this week and just breezed by it. Thank you to my sister and mom for pointing it out again and reminding me of the possibilities of it.

Will you believe me when I tell you everything in this picture cost me only $8.94?

You can do this deal too, if you are in need of more coupons, let me know. I have many of the nut cluster, fruit snack and nature valley bar coupons that I am more than willing to share with friends.

1. 2 Cocoa Puff cereal $1.50, $0.75 IP
2. 6 Granola Nut Cluster bags $1.50, used $1 IP and MQ. There are also $1.60 MQ out there that could make this a moneymaker! (wish I had taken Rachael up on that!)
3. 2 Fruit snacks $1.50, used $1/2 MQ

The above items along with many other types of cereal, granola bars, etc are all on sale for $2 each- unless you buy in multiples of 10. Then they are $1.50. Plus this bonus: for every multiple of five you get a free gallon of Pig milk!

I also bought:
6 Grands biscuits $0.99 each, $1/2 IP and MQ (so $0.49 each and you can freeze!)

The final bonus was if you spend $10 in the store, you can then use the ad coupon to buy the following:
1 dozen eggs for 29 cents
3 lb bag of chicken for $3.99

So overall I was able to get: 2 gallons of milk, a dozen eggs, 3 lbs of chicken, 2 name brand boxes of cereal, 6 grands biscuits, 2 box of fruit snacks and 6 bags of granola nut clusters for only $8.94! My savings was $38.20!!

Reminder that Piggly Wiggly in Poynette and Pardeeville do not accept internet coupons. I was at the Waunakee store so I took advantage of their policy and used internet coupons since they will take them. There are still plenty of manufacture coupons out there to take advantage of this deal without needing to use IP.

I am so glad I was planning a trip to Waunakee anyways and ran into my sister. This was an awesome deal.

Kmart Double Update

Well folks, I got the new Kmart ad today and I don't see any reference to a double coupon event of any kind. So I guess there will be no doubles this week.

If I hear anything different I will of course let you know.

Walmart for just a couple things

I ran to the (dreaded) Walmart to take advantage of a couple coupons, and because hubby insisted he needed the Walmart generic of Metamucil. I choose not to ask questions. Here are the notable deals only:
2 Sunkist sandwich ready pouch $1.33, $0.75 IP
6 Starkist tuna pouches $0.93, $1.50/3 MQ
4 Starkist tuna pouches $0.93, $1.00/2 IP

6 Taco seasoning (brand name escapes me) $0.58, $0.75/2 MQ

My total here was $29.02, but I did save quite a bit on the above.

Walgreen's for $1.70

Wait, that title is a little misleading. I did two transactions, the first was $1.70 and the second was $1.65. Here's the breakdown...

Transaction #1
1 Welch's jelly $1.59, $0.75 IP
1 Thermacare $2.50, $1 IP (plus it was free after RR)
2 Oral B toothbrushes $2 each, BOGO MQ (plus got $2 RR making it free)
1 Tuf garbage bags $2.99
4 Campbell's soup $0.89 with ad coupon, $1/2 IP
2 Peter pan peanut butter $1.65 on clearance, $0.50 IP

Total $1.70 after coupon savings ($27.53), and I also paid with $10 RR from last week. Then I received back $4.50 RR from this transaction.

Transaction #2
1 Thermacare $2.50, $1 IP

Total was $1.65 after coupon/ad savings ($1.50). Plus I received another $2.50 in Register Rewards to use next time.

Happily I still have a total of $8 for next week!

Pierce's deals, nearly free

I found some $1 Snapple coupons awhile back and found them finally at Pierce's for only $0.99, therefore they were FREE! I also bought 2 Betty Crocker potatoes for $0.98 each with $0.25 MQ for each. I'm afraid the register total got a little messed up because the coupons keep beeping due to that extra penny! My final total was $0.76with a coupon savings of $13.90!

The good news is I still have a few more of those coupons!!

Valley Granola Nut Clusters.

General Mills recently sent me 10 coupons for their new product Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters. The manufacturer coupons are $1.60 off one bag and expire 2/28/2010. I have not priced this item yet in stores but I did try the sample that was sent to me. It's exactly as the name states, a granola and nut cluster. I was wondering if you would post this information for your readers as I would like to share the coupons I have available. All I ask is that your readers email me to let me know they would like a coupon, and they should send me a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and I will provide the coupon. Emails can be sent to me at rschmidt@gmail.com.

UPDATE: the email address should read: rschmidt004@gmail.com
If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Thanks!

Thanks so much for sharing Rachael!

More Kmart doubles???

Looks like there may be more Kmart doubles after all.

The blogs are buzzing with news that Kmart will indeed be having a doubles week again starting on September 28th. I will update the blog for everyone as soon as I find out for sure.

Stay tuned.....

Extra coupon inserts

Exciting news if you are in need of coupons....

Hi,
I have about 10 extra inserts from this weekend besides the normal 10 I bring home and share with neighbors. Would you like any of them? And could you please post if anyone would like some? They can e-mail if they want any.
Thanks
Rachal

Rachal can be reached by email at babyjacob34@yahoo.com

Thanks Rachal!!

Menard's freebie

I don't get to Menard's very often because it is not in town. However I was looking at their weekly ad and found a great deal.

Buy one Arm & Hammer 1lb baking soda for $0.75 and get one Arm & Hammer laundry detergent for FREE after mail in rebate. It is valid on the 32 load size. Keep in mind that you will have to pay and send in the receipt to receive the rebate.

Either way, a good deal. Make the deal even better by going to the Arm & Hammer website to print coupons to use when purchasing the items. Menard's does accept both Internet and manufacture coupons.

I also see that the Arm & Hammer dryer sheets are $1.44 which is a pretty good price.

Let me know if you do this deal, I may have to make a run to Menard's this week at this price!!

Frugal Friday, my audacious goals

It is September, and I have been putting off this post for a long time. Frankly the longer I could put this off, the longer I didn't have to be accountable to everyone for my financial goals. So here goes, let me list the goals I have/have had since I started this journey in November of 2008.

1. Pay off loan to my sister. This goal was met in February of this year. It wasn't a huge loan, but it was a monthly payment we were making to her family.

2. Pay off Visa bill. This goal was met in March this year. This bill was about $1100 from when our washing machine died on Christmas Eve. We went without a washer for a couple weeks until we found out the old one would cost more to fix than it was worth. It hurt to charge that washer, but it felt great to pay it off.

3. Pay off hubby's car. Yeah, this was accomplished on the last day of May! My goal was to pay it off before June and we squeaked by with one day to spare. Either way, it is paid off!!!

4. Pay off the van. This started at $10,000. We have been throwing any and all extra money at this debt right now. My plan is to pay off this bill by the end of March 2010. I know we can do it if I work hard on meeting the budget every month and paying any and all extra moeny twowards this debt.

5. Pay off my student loan. This debt has been following us around for way too long. For now I make the normal minimum payment, but once the van is paid for, this bill will be next. I am giving us one year to pay this off once we are done with the van. That will take us to March 2011. Right now this bill is around $17,000.

I am following the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover methods for attacking this debt. If you have any questions about this method, contact me or click here.

To some of you, having a budget plan for the next year and 1/2 may seem like a long time focus on this. But once we get to that point, we will be DEBT FREE. I can only imagine what that will feel like when we get there. Once we are there, we will have more money to do the things we want to do. I consider it a short term sacriface for our family's long term goals.

Be sure to check out Lifeasmom.com for more Frugal Friday stories.

This is also linked to moneysavingmom.com monthly financial updates.

Free and nearly free!!

Thanks goes to reader Tami for this great tip!

There is a $2.00 off coupon at www.healthychoice.com that you can print 2 times per computer. The Healthy Choice meals at Walmart are $1.68-$1.98 right now which makes them free with possible overage.

Also if you sign up to be friends with Sara Lee on Facebook you can print a $3.00 off coupon. The Sara Lee packaged meat at Walmart is $3.98 each which makes the meat 98 cents after coupon.

Print off your coupons to get free or cheap food!

I'm BACK

Thanks to everyone for the thoughts and messages this past week. And what a week it was! I was diagnosed with strep throat on Wednesday during a visit to the ER to get IV fluids due to dehydration. I was not in a good way at all.

Thursday the school called with my eldest not feeling well. Given my strep, he immediately went to the clinic and guess what? Strep throat. Big surprise.

Friday, my middle child came home from school with a sore throat. Luckily a call to the doctor's office was all that was needed so he was put on antibiotics as well.

If you are keeping score, that is 3/5 of us on antibiotics with strep throat. My hubby did not get it (though he just finished an unrelated course of antibiotics which I feel protected him.) Only the youngest has not succumbed, but he does have a cold. Hopefully that is all that will develop.

It has been many days of rest and boredom in this house (remember we have no tv) as we tried to recover. I feel mostly back to normal except my energy level is very low. It has been a long time since I've been so sick.

But I am ready to get back to blogging, and I hope to get up to date with a few posts that need to get done.

The good side effect of being sick is not shopping, so I am on budget for the month! There is always a silver lining......

A tip from a reader

Hey I also have been meaning to share something with your readers.
A while back, in my ongoing money saving ventures, I found a site called The Caregivers Marketplace where you can submit receipts and receive money back for caregiving products you've purchased. My main use is for diapers and vitamins, though they have many other products on there too. I get $.75 back for each package of Huggies I buy, and a with coupon or two at point of purchase it makes them way cheaper than store brand diapers! just thought I'd share...its worth checking to see if you can get money back for things you already use of want to.

I have heard about this in passing before, but never looked into it. I wish I had. If you go here, you will get their website. It is free to join, and all eligible products are listed. It includes diapers, wipes, and some vitamins.

This looks worth the time and you can get money back from the products you are buying anyways!!! A win-win deal!

And thank you to reader "VMM" for sending me the info to share!

A quick Pig match up

Thanks again to my sister JC for giving a quick run down of the Piggly Wiggly ad.

New email contact

Hi all. Thanks for the well wishes for my health, I'm starting to feel better. It's amazing the power of the IV!

I will back to speed soon. Stay tuned. I will be posting the Pierce's ad and a recap of the Piggly Wiggly ad thanks to my sister.

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to let you know that I have a new email that you can use to contact me. It is kendralacrosse@verizon.net

Back several weeks ago when I got this laptop I knew I would use it for my blogging. But then I realized that all my email was still going to the other computer. Well, I couldn't just set it up on here because hubby uses that email. Long story short, I finally figured out how to set up a new sub account with my provider and voila! It's done. Just took me forever to sit down and do it. Guess I'll get it all worked out eventually. Now I just need to get my pocket PC back up and running to sync it with this email account so I have all the addresses.....maybe another day!

Excuse the sporadic posting this week

Sorry guys. My posting this week has been sporadic at best. I am battling strep throat. I spent several hours at the ER this morning for IV fluids, antibiotics and the run down.

I'm trying to get back on track as the IV is making me feel a bit better. I was getting pretty dehydrated.

So bare with me folks. Things will be back to normal soon. Thanks for your understanding.

Meal Plan Monday

It's a long holiday weekend which I love. My hubby will be home all this week so our menu for this week is a guideline only. I don't know what he will do. I'm making him be in charge of the meals. Ha!

Saturday: lunch and dinner were family cookout at the cabin

Sunday: We had "lupper" (late lunch/early supper) of kabobs on the grill, cantaloupe and cucumber dip with crackers.

Monday: lunch and supper will be leftover grilled food with veggie.

Tuesday: Cheeseburgers and some side/veggie

Wednesday: Taco salads

Thursday: Pizza as usual

Friday: wraps or quesidillas with leftovers.

Nothing out of the ordinary or too exciting for this bunch. I hope you all aren't bored reading about my menu plan, but it is a great way for me to plan ahead and save money.

Playing catch up on grocery posts

My camera broke. I'm very sad. I just got this camera for Christmas last year and love it. But I had to put it in the mail to get fixed. Needless to say, I will be posting without pictures for a couple weeks until I get the camera back and in working order.

Kmart: I made one final run to Kmart to get some double coupons.

4 Welch's jelly $2 each, $0.75 IP doubled, made them $0.50 each.
My total was $2 exactly and I was able to put it on the gift card I got last week at Kmart. Nothing out of pocket.

Pierce's:
First up is my normal shopping trip that happened on Friday. Coupon items included:

Philly cream cheese $0.99 each with $1/2 MQ
Free Krackerfulls when you buy Ritz, $3.29 value and Ritz on sale for 2/$5
Kraft cheese slices $1.50 each, $1/2 MQ
Kraft chunk cheese $2.00, $1/2 MQ
Eggo waffles $1.66, $1/2 MQ
Freshlike frozen veggies $0.99, $1/2 MQ

Obviously I had other groceries as well. My total for this visit was $67.43 with a coupon and ad savings of $70.88

Pierce's trip made on Sunday for the "3 day sale" (Check it out here)

Wisconsin farms milk 1 gallon $1.88
Quaker granola bars $1.88, $0.75 MQ

This trip cost me $25.40 with a coupon and ad savings of $16.25.

Both trips I consider quite successful.

Finally, I made a trip to the land of Wally world that I do not venture into easily. Hopefully I will not need to step back there for a long while. Items bought with coupons include:

4 Oscar Mayer hot dogs $1.50 each, they ad matched to Pig which was BOGO, plus I used a $1/2 MQ making them $0.25 each

2 bags Kingsford charcoal ad matched to $5.88 with Pierce's ad, then used $2 IP for each.

2 Bottles of KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce, used "buy charcoal get BBQ free" IP
2 Starkist pouch $0.93, $0.50 IP
2 box Van de Kamps fish sticks $4.56, $3 IP
White cloud TP $2, $1 MQ
5 Soy milk $2.73, $2 IP
4 Grands biscuits $1.62, $1 IP

Saved quite a bit here as well and my total ended up as $26.60. I still don't like shopping there. I plan to avoid that place as much as I can.

So you can see that I had a busy shopping week. I think I will be making a run to Target this week. I have to run to Madison anyways, so I might as well. I hope everyone is having/had a wonderful holiday weekend.

Fun Fun Fun...not so frugal

My twins had their birthday on August 31st. While I did buy their gifts rather cheaply due to the Kmart toy coupon, I wanted to treat them as well.

These two boys know the value of a coupon. They have helped me clip and sort and will sometimes go shopping with me. They will ask "Mom, do you have a coupon so we can have ____"? It's really priceless to me.

Well, on their own time they have been clipping the coupons for Chuck E. Cheese that are often on the back of the inserts on Sunday. They let me know they were saving them so we could afford to go sometime. I decided to surprise them for their birthday with a dinner and games.

Before I left, I registered on the website for Chuck E. Cheese and they emailed me some coupons that were even better than the ones in the newspaper. We were set!

I had hubby meet us there after work along with grandma. I did not tell them anything about it. We had a bunch of other errands to do first. Finally when it was about 1/2 hour before we needed to be there, I told them we were going to have one final birthday surprise. You should have seen their faces. They begged to know what it was but I wouldn't budge.

Needless to say, when I pulled into the parking lot they went nuts. Then grandma and dad showed up. We all had such a great time playing games and eating pizza. Then we got to cash in the tickets for the "prizes" (junk) which thrilled them to no end.

The place is not very "frugal friendly", but I think we did ok. There were 6 of us eating and drinking and playing games. We spent about $50 there in a short amount of time.

My kids told me it was the best birthday ever, and that made it good enough for me.

No coupons this weekend

Yes folks, there will be no coupon inserts this weekend because of the holiday.

Take the time to clean out your expired coupons and catch up on your clipping and filing!

Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone!

More at Kmart!

I stopped to get a prescription (and a $10 gift card for it) and decided to check on a couple more items.

2 Reese's pb cup 8 packs $1, $0.55 MQ
4 Reese's pb cups 2 packs $0.89, BOGO MQ
2 Hunts ketchup $1, $1/2 MQ

All the coupons doubled and my total (no joke) was $0.39 which was only for the tax. Everything was FREE! I think I will be saving the candy for Halloween or school treats, depends on how long it can last since the kids saw it come into the house.
